Cyclist succumbs to his injuries after being knocked down by motorist

The incident took place at around 16:30 on the corner of Hardwick and York Streets.

Newcastle SAPS are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a cyclist was knocked over by a motorist on Sunday afternoon (January 8).

Lizzy Arumugam, Newcastle SAPS corporate communications officer, said the incident took place at around 16:30 on the corner of Hardwick and York Streets.

“The 58-year-old cyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” she stated.
