Paramedics were kept busy last night (December 6) responding to a number of accidents in the Newcastle area.
Robert McKenzie, KZN EMS Media Liaison Officer, confirmed the first accident occurred near Osizweni.
Three people were killed and two others were injured in the accident, which appeared to involve only one motor vehicle.
“Paramedics treated the two patients for serious injuries before transporting them to Madadeni Provincial Hospital for additional medical care,” he said.
The second accident happened around 03:00 on the N11 towards Ladysmith.
“In the accident, one person was killed, and the other three occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured,” he concluded.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding both of these incidents.
