Those were the words of Public Relations Officer, Shavani Sewpau,l after dozens of Newcastillians flocked to the SANBS donor centre this past weekend.
With the current blood supply at 0.9 days (the ideal supply is seven days), the 40 units collected at Saturday’s SANBS promotion was a lifesaver.
The SANBS Summer Campaign, which aims to increase collection during the holiday season, kicks off on Monday, November 14 and all blood donors who donate before January 14, 2023, will receive a limited editions SANBS Gym Bag.
The number of accidents has already increased with the approach of the holiday season.
“Please donate blood as the number of holiday travellers on our roads is expected to increase. Assist SANBS in saving their lives by visiting your local donor centre or donate at one of our mobile clinics located in shopping malls,” Sewpaul pleaded.
