Family pay their final tribute to Leon Scholtz

On December 23, their worst nightmare came true when it was revealed that Leon had stage 4 cancer.

Friends and family recently paid their respects to Leon Scholtz (57), their beloved father, stepfather, husband, and grandfather, who died after a yearlong battle with stage 4 lung, bone, and liver metastatic cancer.

Leon worked as a mechanic, boilermaker, and panel beater and was described by his wife, Cerita, as an outdoor enthusiast who was always full of life and enjoyed spending his free time outside.

“He enjoyed fishing, cycling, and other outdoor activities. He was a happy-go-lucky person who thoroughly enjoyed life. He was a kind-hearted person who had always gone out of his way to support and assist others “She explained.

Leon’s life took a turn for the worse when he became ill in August 2021, according to Cerita.

On December 23, their worst nightmare came true when it was revealed that he had stage 4 cancer, a battle he would fight with everything he had but sadly lost on September 6, 2022.

“As Leon’s wife, I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped him with love, support, and other ways during his treatment and in his final days!” “We couldn’t have done it without all of you!” she exclaimed.

The full tribute will be published in an upcoming issue of the Newcastle Advertiser, which is available every Thursday!
