Three injured in R34 collision

Paramedics stabilized the injured on the scene before transporting them to local hospitals for further care.

Two women and a five-year-old child were injured in a collision between a car and a truck on the R34 between Newcastle and Memel yesterday afternoon (October 27).

According to Jan-Henk van Vuuren, of Magenta Medical Services, paramedics stabilized the injured on the scene before transporting them to local hospitals for further care.

“The exact cause of the collision is still unknown, but a witness stated that the car appeared to be overtaking the truck while the truck was busy turning off the R34,” he concluded.

A Police investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
