Technical Services monitor progress on current municipal projects

The goal of the visits, according to the Newcastle municipality’s communications department was to gather detailed information about all active projects as a monitoring measure.

Various municipal projects were inspected recently by a delegation led by Cllr Musa “Shukela” Thwala, Deputy Mayor of Newcastle and Portfolio Chairperson for Technical Services, a delegation of from Head of Technical Services, the steering committee, and ward councillors

The goal of the visits, according to the Newcastle municipality’s communications department was to gather detailed information about all active projects as a monitoring measure.

The following sites were visited:

  • Ncandu Park Phase two Pipe replacement and upgrade project
  • The upgrade of Madadeni Wastewater Treatment Plant
  • The upgrade of MA23, 25 and 26
  • The construction of link Road storm water drains
  • Upgrade of OC22 and OC44
  • The Blaauwbosch Bulk Water Supply Project

“This was also an opportunity for all political leaders to provide legislative oversight in order to promote accountability, responsibility, and transparency in government,” the statement read.
