She is 99 years old and can finally lay claim to her own home.
Seqephi Bathokozile Mahlinza from the KwaDabhasi area of Nongoma was overwhelmed when the keys to her new house were handed to her by KZN MEC for Human Settlements & Public Works Ntuthuko Mahlaba and Nongoma Mayor Albert Mncwango, in partnership with Zululand’s Operation Sukuma Sakhe.

The authorities became aware of Gogo Mahlinza’s plight and steps were taken to ensure that she could finally have the dignity of living in her own home.
While in the area, government officials also visited the local SASSA offices, Department of Social Development and Home Affairs as part of their oversight roles. They also inspected local food outlets to ensure that compliance rules were being followed.

The visits were aimed at assessing and monitoring the impact government has, especially concerning service delivery, and to unblock the bottlenecks and red-tape in the service delivery process. Zululand’s Operation Sukuma Sakhe also took the delegation through to War Rooms to check their functionality and to visit community projects in the area.
