Four convicted rapists sentenced to life behind bars

For the kidnapping, rape, and robbery of a 33-year-old woman in the Madadeni area in January 2017, Njabulo Hadebe (25), Sanele Ndwandwe (27), Bhekumuzi Mdluli (28) and Manqoba Madela (26) were sentenced to life in prison with an additional 20 years.

According to Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, a spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, the victim was hitchhiking from Newcastle to Madadeni with a friend.

The men pulled over and gave her a ride, leaving her friend behind. They alternated rapping the victim on the way there. They then took her cellphone, tablet, and R120 in cash before abandoning her in an unknown location,” Ramkisson-Kara said.

They were apprehended after the victim’s friend took note of their license plate. The police were also able to trace the victim’s cellphone since the men were still using it.
