IFP ladies end Women’s Month with a bang

“One thing I love about women is that they do not look like their problems or misfortunes''.

The Inkatha Freedom Party Women’s Brigade (IFPWB) celebrated Women’s Month in style at the Cecil Emmet Hall on Friday.

IFP ‘First Lady’ Mrs Hlabisa was the honourable guest among other women. The day was opened with a prayer by Mam Ntshangase from AbaQulusi Municipality, after which booming music heralded lots of singing and dancing.

IFPWB chairperson in the AbaQulusi Constituency, Mrs Mafi Motha, applauded women for their bravery and said, “Women must not be shy but must stand tall. Women must not be afraid of positions and being leaders. Women must also learn to speak out about abuse, rape and criminality. A wise woman builds her house, but a foolish woman destroys her house with her own hands.”

Speaker Khumalo from AbaQulusi Municipality also showed his support on the day by sharing the history of women in the IFP and told the ‘fairer sex’ never to compare themselves with men.

The ‘First Lady’ then took the stage and said, “One thing I love about women is that they do not look like their problems or misfortunes. God gave women the power to carry a child for nine months. After that, she was given the power to raise that child throughout their life; this shows there is God inside a woman.”

She went on to say that she was pleased to meet the women of AbaQulusi, who are all facing their own challenges in life. “As much as women are like rocks, in reality women are struggling and suffering. We all have different problems as women, but that does not mean that we need to look like our problems; a women must wake up, bath, face her problems and keep going. Pray for better days, patience and also wisdom as a woman.”
