Golden oldies enjoy sporting exercise to be fit and healthy

The elderly enjoyed activities such as netball, skipping, soccer and cross-country running.

The Umzinyathi District Golden Games selections were held with great excitement on Thursday, August 11.
The elderly enjoyed activities such as netball, skipping, soccer and cross-country running.
These games are an initiative by the Department of Sport & Recreation, in collaboration with Umzinyathi Municipality, to encourage the elderly to exercise and fight diseases in the body caused by ageing.
“We are very excited to be here and this is an indication that the municipality has not forsaken us old people,” said an overjoyed Gogo Khuzwayo.
She added that although their bones are fragile and stiff, this kind of activity is great for their mental as well as physical health.
