Spiritual and mental healing highlighted at Christian conference

Local pastors and guest speakers took the podium with messages of support and highlighted the importance of spirituality in dealing with the loss of family members who died in the Durban floods and as a result of the Covid-19 virus.

The Intshukumo Christian Organisation held their quarterly conference at Kuikvei Farm in Wasbank over the weekend.
Thousands of people from all nine provinces attended the conference.
The organisation highlighted issues such as gender-based violence, mental health and spiritual healing. In celebration of Women’s Month, a total of 10 doctors were present to help women with their medical issues.
Mrs Nyandeni, one of the organisers, explained the importance of this conference and said that women deal with many issues in silence, hence their mental health is compromised. “Women were offered psycho-social support by industry experts in order to deal better with their issues,” said Mrs Nyandeni.
She also explained that, “Intshukumo can be translated as a distinctive movement that inculcates considerable transformation. As a result, it enhances morale regeneration.
“Intshukumo looks at individuals’ genuine self-esteem so that they can begin to understand their identity, origin, destiny, potential, positioning, plan and purpose.” Local pastors and guest speakers took the podium with messages of support and highlighted the importance of spirituality in dealing with the loss of family members who died in the Durban floods and as a result of the Covid-19 virus. Men were also present at the conference.
The next conference will be in October.
Mrs Nyandeni thanked all those who travelled from as far as Swaziland, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, the Western Cape and Free State, as well as outside Wasbank, to be part of the Intshukumo conference.
