Melusi United FC crowned as under 13 soccer champions

Thabiso Shabalala, a representative from the South African Football Association, said that the standard of football in the Umzinyathi District is high and one of the best in KwaZulu Natal.

Nobungani Build-It hosted another successful under 13 soccer tournament on Saturday at the Oval sports grounds.
Six years in the running, the Nobungani Build-It U/13 tournament seeks to develop up-and-coming soccer stars in the Umzinyathi District.
A total of 15 teams competed on Saturday, from Umvoti, Nquthu, Msinga and Dundee.
The young lads gave it their all as the group sections were competed for to select the top four teams. They each stood on nine points, so an exciting penalty shoot-out was required.
This saw Melusi United Football Club (FC) playing against Oceans Blues from Nquthu in the final. Melusi FC managed to hit the back of the net three times to clinch the title.
Thabiso Shabalala, a representative from the South African Football Association, said that the standard of football in the Umzinyathi District is high and one of the best in KwaZulu Natal.
“The level of talent in these young boys is extraordinary and I can see that Umzinyathi District is grooming future soccer stars,” said Shabalala.
He congratulated the winners and wished them well in their future matches.
Minenhle Mgwabe from Melusi United FC was awarded the ‘Player of the Tournament’ medal. Nobugani Build-It employees congratulated all the teams that participated.
