Osizweni bust leads to three arrests

Members of Osizweni Crime Prevention and the Amajuba Cluster Task Team swept in on the drug trade.

Three suspects were successfully arrested through an intelligence driven operation last Friday (August 12) in Osizweni. Members of Osizweni Crime Prevention were joined by the Amajuba Cluster Task Team for the op.

According to Lizzy Arumugam of the Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications office, the first arrest was made in Section A, where a suspect was found in possession of Mandrax and R250 in cash.

The second suspect was busted with heroin in his possession, valued at around R550. The third suspect was found in possession of Mandrax with an estimated street value of R600.

All three suspects were taken into custody by the ops team.

The operation yielded positive results and all three suspects have since appeared in the Madadeni Magistrates Court. Police investigations will continue,” she concluded.
