The Boanerges MCC Bikers Club has been collecting ‘unwanted gifts’ (clothes) from the community, and donated the first batch to an outreach programme in Krugersdorp.
‘First Lady’ Monique van der Watt explained that the biking club initially had an outreach programme whereby they helped the needy by making up food hampers.
Their first project was in Krugersdorp, where they distributed food hampers to 75 families.
Monique explained that they had so much food left over from that drive and have since managed to make up 30 boxes filled with meat, other food items and blankets from Glencoe and Dundee.
“We are now looking for unwanted gifts, as we call them, to give to the less privileged. We need clothes, baby items and also food so we can distribute them,” explained Monique.
She thanks every person who has made a contribution in order to make this project possible.
“We are definitely going to make a difference with the Standerton Biker Angels Foundation.
“Thank you to Ivette Potgieter and Jacques van der Walt for being part of this great project,” added Monique.
The bikers club will be hosting their birthday bash on September 24 at Sarel Cilliers High School, where bikers and non-bikers are welcome to have a fun day with prizes to be won.
A percentage of the entry fee will be given back to the community.
The club has also sponsored the school’s second team hockey jerseys.

The first Boanerges birthday bash will be at Sarel Cilliers on September 24. Entry is R150 including badge, kids from 12-18 will pay R60. Stalls -R150.
