Rotary Club Dundee asks for old and outdated spectacles

'Operation Brightsight' provides corrective spectacles to underprivileged people, bringing smiles to the faces of senior citizens, children and indigent people alike.

Rotary Club Dundee has taken the initiative to help the Newcastle Lions Club collect donations of old and out-of-date spectacles.
Not only frames, but also outdated prescription lenses are used.
The local collection point is Mpati Pharmacy in Beaconsfield Street, where you can leave your donations.
Some history of this project…
It was Helen Keller who challenged Lions around the world to be ‘knights of the blind in the crusade against blindness’ and what a dramatic change that has made to hundreds and thousands, if not millions of sight-impaired people.
‘Operation Brightsight’ provides corrective spectacles to underprivileged people, bringing smiles to the faces of senior citizens, children and indigent people alike.
“We, the Rotary Club of Dundee, have already sent the donations received to the Newcastle Lions Club, who wish to express their grateful thanks to the community of Dundee for their generosity and kindness.
“Many thanks to our special and giving community, and please continue to assist in this worthwhile project.”
