R40K boost to Newcastle agriculture

More than 10 agricultural non-profit organisations received equipment through the municipality.

The Hollywood Foundation recently donated R40 000 worth of agricultural products to the Newcastle Municipality.

According to the municipality’s Head of Communications, Mlungisi Khumalo, the donation saw more than 10 agricultural non-profit organisations receiving equipment to help them with their farming operations.

Mayor, Xolani Dube, Deputy Mayor, Musa Thwala and Speaker of Council, Thengi Zulu accepted the donation on July 27.

Cllr Dube stated that his administration believes in self-help and self-sufficiency, and the donation exemplified these virtues.

This donation is the most effective way to ensure that over 1 000 families in our community have a steady source of income,” he concluded.
