Competition to celebrate Madiba Day

Boxer store number 2 held a competition for children around Vryheid as a way of celebrating Madiba Month.

Boxer store number 2 held a competition for children around Vryheid as a way of celebrating Madiba Month.

Children had to enter a ‘colouring a picture’ competition which ended on Wednesday last week. On Saturday, the store’s management team called 45 children who were selected to come and decorate cupcakes. One lucky winner will represent Vryheid among other Boxer stores nationally. ‘’We normally do charity work or visit communities on Madiba Day for our 67 minutes, but this time we did something different for the children, whereby we teach them about baking and what one needs when they want to bake a cake.”

The children and parents gathered outside the store’s premises and the little ones started decorating the cupcakes. The management team, staff and parents had to vote which child deserved to win the prize. The winner was six-year-old Ziyanda Ndlovu, who will now compete in the next round. Children received hampers before the store ended off the day’s activities.
