SAPS spends 67 minutes in community service

Donations were made to families in Fairleigh, Siyahlala-la, Raswater Farm, central Newcastle and Normandien.

Warm blankets and food parcels were how members of SAPS in the district commemorated Mandela Day (July 18).

According to Lizzy Arumugam, from Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications, members of her office, Newcastle Social Crime Prevention, the Newcastle Chinese CPF and the Newcastle CPF distributed blankets to needy families in Fairleigh, Siyahlala-la, Raswater Farm and central Newcastle.

Officials also donated blankets to Raphah Ministries and Kilbarchan Primary School the following day, where the learners were also given jerseys.

She added that Normandien SAPS, the Normandien CPF and the Youth Desk also joined forces on Mandela Day, to donate food parcels to needy families of Clipford and Sebastopol Farms in the farming area.

The community expressed its appreciation to the police and its stakeholders’ for the assistance,” stated Arumugam.
