Library still not open on Saturdays?

Dundee librarian Jabu Nkosi assured the community that opening hours will go back to normal as soon as they get the green light from Public Library & Information Services.

The community of Dundee has complained about the local library not opening on Saturdays…
With schools starting this week, people are saying that scholars need to use the library on weekends.
Courier reader Samanta Reddy expressed her disappointment when she went to the library one Saturday and found it closed.
“We all know that opening hours were adjusted when the Covid-19 virus hit, but I honestly think it’s now an excuse, as the country is no longer on lockdown,” said Samanta. She added that most learners don’t have access to the internet and they are only free during weekends to visit the library. “For many learners, the library is their main source of accessing the internet in order to do their assignments and research their projects.
“Since the library doesn’t open on Saturdays, this has become an issue for the pupils,” concluded Samanta.
Dundee librarian Jabu Nkosi assured the community that opening hours will go back to normal as soon as they get the green light from Public Library & Information Services. “We are still waiting for a directive from the department to open again on Saturdays,” explained Nkosi.
She went on to say that all five libraries within Endumeni Municipality are still abiding by this rule. “As soon as we get the green light, we will start operating again,” she said.
Nkosi concluded that everyone is still welcome to visit the library from Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00.
