Two injured after train derails

The injured men were treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment

Shortly before midday yesterday (July 10) paramedics were summoned to the scene of a train derailment on the R103 near Nottingham Road.

“When medics arrived on scene they found that most of the carts were lying down an embankment. Two adult male occupants of the train were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.

After being treated on scene, the injured men were transported to hospital.

“Circumstances leading up to the incident are not yet known,” added Mr Herbst.
