Suspects flee after foiled CIT heist

Numerous shots were fired at the CIT van, but the suspects could not bring the vehicle to a halt.

An unknown number of suspects are currently on the run, following an attempted cash-in-transit (CIT) heist in Utrecht earlier this evening (July 6).

According to Morne Potgieter, Operational Manager for Ithemba Security, the suspects fired numerous shots at the CIT van, but were unsuccessful  in bringing the vehicle to a halt.

We are not sure how many suspects were involved or what vehicle they used, but they managed to flee the scene,” explained Potgieter.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the shooting.

This is a developing story and will be updated as soon as more information is available.
