Illegal dumping angers homeowner

People are warned not to dump refuse illegally, as a fine will be issued

A resident of Protea Drive couldn’t believe his eyes when a truck pulled over and dumped a load of sand.

“The dumping was right in front of my house! Who would do something like that?” fumes the homeowner.

The mound of sand was so high that it blocked entry into the owner’s property.

Democratic Alliance Ward Cllr Sharon Buys said she held a meeting last week, during which the issue of illegal dumping was discussed.

Cllr Buys says Protection Services (Public Safety) have said that if anyone is found dumping, a photo or video of the vehicle registration must be taken and given to them. They will then do a follow-up and action will be taken against the culprit.
