New CPF chairperson at the helm

The new chairperson is keen to be part of the solution to decreasing crime

After the elections that were held in April, Sibusiso Ngubeni was elected as the new chairperson of the Estcourt Community Policing Forum (CPF).

Ngubeni is a resident of Mkhamba Gardens and has been involved in community safety for more than two years.

He says that the ever-increasing crime rate motivated him to be involved with community safety initiatives.

Ngubeni is based at Estcourt police station and will work closely with Sergeant Dlamini.

He takes over from Kwazi Nduli and will occupy this position for five years.

As the chairperson, he will be responsible for 17 sub-forums (branches), obtaining crime reports from the sub-forums and making reports to Estcourt police management.

He is also tasked with compiling a comprehensive report on crime that he will submit to the uThukela District Commander based in Ladysmith.

Ngubeni says he is equal to the task and has already begun with his duties.

He says he recently visited three schools, where he carried out crime awareness campaigns.

When visiting the schools, the SAPS also donated blankets and beanies to keep the children warm.
