Golfers take a swing at Mavericks Skaapdag

Golfers were keen to support this popular day

Submitted by Estcourt Golf Club

The Mavericks Golf Group hosted their annual Skaapdag on June 26.

The Better-Ball format, with both scores to count on the par 4s, presented a fair amount of difficulty for some of the pairings.

A total of 52 golfers took part in the competition, with 12 of them from as far as Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

The day culminated in some light music and a sumptuous meal, courtesy of Ian Marx and his team from Pick n Pay.

Thank you to Mavericks for providing the prizes on the day, and to Ian for the supper.

Competition results:

First on 67 points was the father-and-son team of Paul and Johan Wagenaar.

In second place, with 62 points, were Mavericks Shane Mothilal and Sam Sewsunker.

Third on a two-way count-out on 61 points were Paul Fick and Rueben Goosen, from fourth-placed Adrian Brown and Dean Mcluckie.

In fifth position on 60 points were Deejay Ramdhav and his partner-in-crime, Mukie Ghasitha.

Closest to the pin on no. 3 or 12 was Shane Mothilal, and on no. 7 or 16 was Luke Schiever.

The jackpot, on 13 points, went to Paul and Johan Wagenaar.

Richard Naidoo was one of four golfers who achieved two-clubs on the day, and gladly donated the winnings to the club.
