Utrecht’s municipal troika visits MIG projects –

Emadlangeni Mayor, Mzwakhe Buthelezi, together with Deputy Mayor, P Chongo and Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) Chairperson, N Dekker were on the ground in Utrecht this week (June 22).

The troika members conducted an oversight visit to assess progress on the Kerk and Loop Street road upgrade projects.

According to Emadlangeni Municipality spokesperson, Ayanda Mabaso, the projects are funded by the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) and commenced in early February.

The construction of these projects will cost the municipality more than R7-million, and forms part of ensuring Utrecht has proper infrastructure conducive to attracting investment.”

Mabaso reported that Cllr Buthelezi was pleased with the progress of the projects and declared them ‘near completion’.

Cllr Buthelezi further emphasised the need to ensure funds are used accordingly, but also that the implementation of such projects provides ‘value for money’.

The Mayor also confirmed that infrastructure development is a top priority in all wards and said a plan has been developed to address all current infrastructure challenges.”
