Suspected murderer nabbed after six months –

Detective Warrant Officer, Renesh Sewlal from the Madadeni SAPS, has arrested a suspect believed to be behind the murder of 25-year-old Minenhle Matthews in December 2021.

On December 4 last year, Matthews was allegedly kidnapped in Madadeni Section 3. Matthews’ body was discovered along the riverbank in an area known as Ebuhlebomzinyathi (between Madadeni and Utrecht) on December 11.

Sewlal took over the investigation in February this year, and left no stone unturned in his efforts to find those responsible for the murder.

Finally, on April 4, a suspect was arrested after being positively identified by a witness in a suspect line-up. Video footage is believed to show the suspect shoving Matthews into a vehicle and driving away with him, on the day of the kidnapping.
