Community angels feed the hungry –

On Thursdays, Joslyn Hendriks collects bones, samp and vegetables from various organisations. With these, she and her team of volunteers make a pot of soup on Friday mornings to feed those in need.

The ‘Siya-Fair’ soup kitchen is often the only means for residents of Siyahlala-la and Fairleigh to enjoy a hearty meal. Many arrive with containers so they can also feed their families.

Every mouth I feed makes a difference,” said Joslyn with a smile.

Soup is not the only thing handed out freely – clothes are also donated to Joslyn and her team, and in turn to residents. Volunteers commented that some of the children who frequent the soup kitchen do not even have jerseys.
