Ria Ramdass: a teen on a mission

The 16-year-old encourages more young people to get involved in community initiatives.

Ria Ramdass: a teen on a mission –

At just 16 years old, Ria Ramdass is aiming to make the world a better place. Utilising her strong desire to help others, she is an ambassador for various non-profit organisations and has also enrolled for courses through Unicef and the World Health Organisation.

The St Dominics Newcastle learner recently collaborated with the Zenzele Nawe [Do it for yourself] Youth Organisation, which focuses on empowering young people through art, culture and sport, and addressing environmental issues. The organisation also focuses on social ills affecting youth, particularly in rural areas, by providing counselling and raising funds to help those addicted to drugs or alcohol.

I personally witnessed what drug addiction did to a close family member, who eventually died due to an overdose,” said Ria candidly.

This Youth Day (June 16), Ria and Zenzele will host a ‘Show Your Talent’ initiative in Madadeni to help uncover budding talent.
