Dundee EMRS workers stage peaceful protest

Their grievances were highlighted in a memorandum, which was handed over to a Human Resources Department representative.

Dundee Emergency Services (EMRS) personnel embarked on a peaceful protest at the Umzinyathi District Department of Health offices on Wednesday morning last week.
They were requesting immediate attention regarding their scheduled overtime being paid late every month.
According to the EMRS workers, they have previously written to the Umzinyathi District Human Resources office about this issue, but nothing has been done about the situation.
Their grievances were highlighted in a memorandum, which was handed over to a Human Resources Department representative. In the memorandum, the workers state that they serve the community 24/7 under stressful conditions and under severe pressure, rendering 192 hours of community service monthly, and have to work when they are short-staffed. They complain that Human Resources does not inform workers of late payments until they go to their offices and enquire.
According to the workers, they do not get paid for the 32 hours of overtime worked monthly, do not get a night shift allowance, and also do not get paid for working on holidays and Sundays.
