Vehicle collides with overturned truck on R34 –
Four people were injured, after a vehicle collided with an overturned truck on the R34 between Newcastle and Memel last night (June 9).
According to Jan-Henk van Vuuren of Magenta Medical Services, the truck overturned at around 18:00, leaving the roadway obstructed. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene soon afterwards and began assisting the truck driver.
Following that, a vehicle crashed into the scene, injuring a paramedic and a bystander. The driver of the vehicle was also seriously injured,” said van Vuuren.
He confirmed the numerous injured people were stabilised at the scene, before being transported to hospital for further medical care. The cause of the collision and the rollover are unclear, and remain subject to official investigations.
