Top of the agenda at the first formal Glencoe Community Policing Forum (CPF) meeting was thanking ADT Securities for helping with the patrols in Ward 7.

Ward 7 Cllr Abdool from the Democratic Alliance said that since this security company has joined them, crime has been reduced immensely in the area. “ADT Securities has come out as a big help, especially during load-shedding, and their response time is excellent,” said Cllr Abdool.
He added that they are currently engaging with a private company in Sithembile to help combat crime in both Glencoe and Sithembile.
Stakeholders from different departments were present at the meeting, as well as local business people.
CPF chairperson Lloyd Kgosthane explained that they are facing a big challenge when it comes to house identification in Glencoe and emergency services find it difficult to identify houses because the numbers are not clearly displayed.
He also urged the community not to be afraid to come to them and report substance abuse and gender based-violence within their homes.
“We have been notified by schools in the area that bullying and drug abuse has increased.
“That is why we will be working closely with the Department of Education, as well as the Department of Social Development, to come up with ways of dealing with these issues,” said Kgosthane.
