Airlift called off as patient dies in ICU

There was nothing left to do but for the chopper crew to fly off again...

A patient at Ladysmith Regional Hospital sadly died before they could be airlifted on Monday (May 30).

A helicopter belonging to Black Eagle landed at the hospital on Monday afternoon. The pilot, Segran Govender, said he had come to pick up a critically injured patient to airlift to Durban.

However, the patient passed away in ICU.

The pilot and crew flew off with no one else on board, in the sad knowledge that a life had been lost…
