Suspects arrested with stolen property

The men will appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate's Court soon

Police arrested two suspects yesterday (May 24) after receiving a tip-off that they had stolen property on them.

The alleged criminals were walking around in the Hospital Park area.

Sergeant Warmenhoven of Ladysmith SAPS quickly called the commander of the Uthukela District for backup.

Officers then rushed out to Harrismith Road, where they spotted two men fitting the description they had received.

Seeing the approaching police vehicles, the men dropped the items and ran.

The policemen got out of their vehicles and chased the suspects on foot, joined by officers from Uthukela Crime Intelligence. The two were caught and arrested.

On further investigation, it was discovered that the owners of the property were unaware that it had been stolen.
