Delivery vehicle robbed in Ekuvukeni

Quick-acting police cornered the suspects and recovered a shotgun and ammo in their possession

Police arrested four suspects after they allegedly robbed a delivery vehicle in the Rockcliff area of Ekuvukeni on Thursday afternoon (May 19).

It is alleged that the men fired shots at the vehicle during the robbery.

A small task team was quickly assembled and the police officers rushed out to the area. The officers managed to corner and arrest the four armed robbers, aged between 18 and 22.

Police recovered a shotgun and two rounds of ammunition (different calibres), a firearm magazine, cash allegedly stolen during the robbery, and a military uniform.

The suspects are currently being profiled and the origin of the uniform is being probed. They face charges of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition and armed robbery. Further charges may also be added.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Ekuvukeni Magistrate’s Court soon.
