Mixing work and play

It was a battle for dominance in the final match between Estcourt Educators and Loskop Educators

In an effort to foster a healthy lifestyle, as well as deliver quality service to the people of South Africa, the government has launched the ‘Work and Play Tournament’.

This tournament encourages employees in government departments in all parts of the country to join forces and create soccer and netball teams.

Under Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality, 10 teams registered to be part of the local leg of the tournament.

The event was organised by the Cluster C Committee, which also recruited employees from different departments to be part of this tournament.

Time to play

Game day was scheduled for April 23, but unfortunately inclement weather meant that the tournament had to be postponed.

Last Wednesday, the final leg of the tournament was played at Estcourt Secondary School.

Players, officials and spectators gathered for an afternoon of work and play. The highlight of the day was the final match that was contested between Estcourt Educators and Loskop Educators.

Both teams put on an exciting soccer spectacle for an enthusiastic crowd that cheered them on.

At the end of the day, the home side (Estcourt Educators) claimed victory to earn themselves a trophy.
