N11 head-on collision claims two lives

A second person is reported to have died as a result of the collision.

Two people have reportedly died and four more were seriously injured, following a head-on collision on the N11 earlier this morning (Thursday, May 12).

All emergency services were present at the accident scene.

According to sources at the scene, a bakkie carrying six occupants was overtaking a truck when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The bakkie then collided head-on with a bus in the oncoming lane.

The driver, as well as one of his passengers, sustained fatal injuries, while the remaining four were treated on scene for moderate to serious injuries before being transported to hospital for further medical care,” said the source.

The exact cause of the collision is still unclear at this stage and will remain subject to further investigations.
