Child Protection Launch held at Moth Hall

A total of nine high schools under Endumeni Municipality were represented in this session.

Endumeni Municipality – in partnership with the Department of Social Development, Department of Education, Department of Health and GCIS – hosted a Child Protection Launch in preparation for Child Protection Month.
A total of nine high schools under Endumeni Municipality were represented in this session.
The pupils had to divide into five commissions to discuss five topics that affect young people in the community and at school.
The topics up for discussion were: Teenage Pregnancy, Substance Abuse, GBV, Mental Health leading to Depression, and Career Guidance.
The aim of the discussions was to gain an understanding of what young people think of these challenges and share ways to overcome them.
The scholars left no stone unturned in terms of voicing their frustrations, sharing ideas with their fellow students, requesting community and government assistance to protect them as young people, and trying to understand the dynamics of their current environment that influences their behaviour.
Moreover, they pleaded to parents for love, care and protection.
