Suvedh shows off his prowess on the cricket pitch

Suvedh was selected for this team due to his performance at the CSA Inland Rural Week, which he took part in during February

Suvedh Ramprith was selected to represent Rural South Africa in the CSA T20 Community Cup that took place in Pretoria from April 21 to 24.

Suvedh was selected for this team due to his performance at the CSA Inland Rural Week, which he took part in during February while representing KZN Inland Tuskers.

His performance of 15 wickets in five games and being the overall second highest wicket-taker for the week earned him a spot in the South African Rural Team.

The CSA T20 Community Cup is a tournament that is played by the best club of each region of the country.

The teams that took part were Clare’s Cricket Club (KZN), GM Old Edwardians Cricket Club (North West and Gauteng), Irene Villagers Cricket Club (Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga), Burma Lads Cricket Club (Free State and Northern Cape), Western Province Cricket Club and SA Rural, who replaced the team from Eastern Cape (they were not eligible to play this tournament).

The SA Rural side consisted of players from many regions of the country who met for the first time.

SA Rural unfortunately lost all their games, but put on good performances and had some key players showing off their talents.

Nathan Engelbrecht was the ‘batsman of the tournament’ and Kevin Pretorius was the second highest run-scorer of the tournament.

Tandani Majeba was among the top 10 wicket-takers, while Suvedh Ramprith placed 10th on the list of best bowling figures for the week.

The SA Rural side used this opportunity to prepare for their next tournament, which is the CSA Future Cup taking place in September.

Suvedh played four out of the five games and picked up five wickets in total.
