AbaQulusi Easter Tournament over long weekend

Final score was 5-3 in favour of Weekend Special

The Abaqulusi Easter Soccer Tournament took place over the long weekend at the Bhekuzulu New Location open ground.

It was a battle among 10 teams that started on Saturday. The plan was to have five games played that day. However, the fifth game was disrupted and had to be stopped.
It is alleged that a well-known businessman drove his car onto the field and the game had to be called off. It is said that the businessman did this because some of the players on the field belong to Bhekuzulu United and he is the owner of the club; he allegedly wanted his players to play in the league not this tournament.

The games resumed on Sunday morning, starting with the cancelled match. The semi-finals were played and the day went well.

Monday saw only two matches being played. The first match, to determine who would finish third and fourth, was played between Juventus and Milan. Juventus eventually won on penalties.

Not forgetting the curtain-raiser match between Vryheid Masters and Izitha FC that ended in a draw. The much-anticipated final kicked off at 15:00; Weekend Special versus Stone Breakers. Both sides didn’t disappoint when it came to entertaining the crowd, from the first whistle until the very end.

Final score was 5-3 in favour of Weekend Special. Medals, trophies and other prizes were handed over by Ward 11 Councillor Sandile Mthembu.

The organisers wish to thank everyone who was part of this successful event. They promise to host a bigger and even better tournament next year.
