Ezakheni water strike continues

Angry Ezakheni residents continue to block roads entering and exiting the township.

The protest started at midnight on Monday (May 2) and on Tuesday morning, everything was at a standstill.

Yesterday (April 3), Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Zama Sibisi condemned the strike, stating that it was illegal since the municipality never received an application from anyone to stage a protest.

“Members of the community are encouraged to stay away from this exercise of illegal road closures, since it will affect them negatively, taking into account that many daily service requirements may not reach them such as the delivery of food items to stores / tuck shops, water tankers, access to clinics, access to schools for teachers and learners, emergency response and access to ambulances,” said Mayor Sibisi.
