One person seriously injured in N11 collision –
A collision between a hatchback and a truck occurred on the N11 yesterday evening (April 29).
According to an eyewitness at the scene, the driver of the hatchback was intending to turn onto the N11 from Kilbarchan at the time of the collision.
A truck, coming from Newcastle, then struck him head-on,” said the eyewitness.
The hatchback then caught alight. Newcastle Fire Services was called to the scene to extinguish the flames.
The driver of the hatchback was allegedly trapped in the vehicle and the Jaws of Life were used to free him. It is believed the driver sustained serious injuries to his legs.
Paramedics stabilised the driver at the scene, after which he was taken to hospital for further medical treatment.
Emergency personnel were said to be conducting preliminary investigations as to the cause of the collision.
