Flooding victims benefit from food parcel drive

"We are very much grateful to Munsoft for donating to the people, as we know the floods caused more harm than good. People's houses are underwater as well as their groceries. It is also our wish that if anyone can assist in any way, they can call the NGO on 079 240 2463."

The recent floods in KwaZulu-Natal have led to the President declaring a state of disaster in the province.
The floods caused unimaginable destruction, which led to families losing their loved ones, their homes and their possessions.

Effects of the flooding were even felt closer to home.
Following the floods, Abaqulusi Local Municipality identified Coronation as a flood-stricken area and a company called Munsoft came on board to offer assistance.

The corporate social responsibility drive on Sunday saw more than 40 families receive food parcels, for which they expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation.
Munsoft worked alongside a Coronation-based NGO called Sibambene Development, which has community caregivers who have been trained by the Department of Social Development.

Mr Zulu, the spokesperson of Sibambene Development, explained that these caregivers visit different households in the area and assess their living conditions, which helps determine the families most in need of assistance with food parcels and other aid.
