Fruitful anti-crime operation in Weenen

The operation targeted perpetrators involved in murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and theft cases

In a quest to seek out suspects involved in crimes in the Sun Valley area of Weenen, a team of police conducted an anti-crime operation last week.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan, the operation targeted perpetrators involved in murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and theft cases.

Members from the Uthukela Crime Intelligence Gathering Unit, Ladysmith Tactical Response Team as well as  Weenen Detectives were involved. 

“The operational team searched two identified premises. Their search resulted in the recovery of a Ford Courier bakkie, believed to be used during the commission of crimes in the area. The vehicle had been abandoned,” he explained.

 

The recovered bakkie, which police believe was used to commit crimes in the Sun Valley area of Weenen.

A 50kg bag of dagga and copper cable was also recovered.

During a search of a second home, police recovered two 9mm pistols.

This operation is set to continue.
