Bongani Mbatha is all about inspiring the young people from an early age.
He has organised a fundraiser for the needy children at Encuntshe Primary School in Ward 5 on Friday, including actors, singers and magicians to give motivation and encouragement to the learners.

Mbatha said this visit is important because he wants to tell children that it possible to make it big one day.
“The people that will visit the school already have a taste of the media industry,” explained Mbatha. “We mainly want to tell the children, especially those from the rural areas, that nothing is impossible to do. These children must know that the media and entertainment industries are big. For instance, if one is a poet and writes his or her own poems, that child could become script writer for a certain production. If one knows how to lead and direct singers and dancers in a group, that child can become a director of a television production…”

Mbatha believes that Encuntshe Primary School is capable of producing learners that will make a difference in the world someday, but he said that because the school is situated in a rural area, it has been neglected by many.
It is for this reason he decided to give back to the learners and teachers there.

Mbatha mentioned that children nowadays have almost constant, unrestricted access to social media, and explained that it was time for them to use these platforms in a positive way.
“One can start a business on social media, one can create content on YouTube; there are lots of young people who earn money while they are still at school. There are young models, programme directors, DJs and directors who use social media to earn a living.”

Mbatha added that on Friday, there will also be an event where children can be selected to perform alongside the stars in singing, dancing, acting and modelling.
There will be prizes to be won.
He explained that other important topics to be discussed at Encuntshe Primary include gender-based violence, and drug and alcohol abuse.

Residents and parents are invited to attend and support the children
“All the funds that will be collected on Friday will be donated to the school to assist those learners.

If anyone would like to contribute in any form, they can call 084 344 6015 or 078 952 7622,” concluded Mbatha.
