Learner attacked and killed with rock

The 16-year-old victim was declared dead at the scene

It is alleged that a 16-year-old learner at a high school in Roosboom was attacked and killed with a rock on Wednesday (April 6).

An 18-year-old boy is suspected of assaulting the 16-year-old, with fatal consequences. 

The two male learners attend the same school in Roosboom.

The 16-year-old boy was declared dead at the scene.

The alleged attacker is set to appear in court in Ladysmith next week.

Ladysmith police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan commented that they have been working together with the school’s principal and School Governing Body (SGB).

The SAPS have previously held intervention programmes at the school and are currently dealing very closing with the matter.
