No water for two months

The water booster pump was removed in January for repairs...

Residents living just a kilometre outside Bergville are complaining that they have not had water for two months.

According to one resident, she has reported the matter several times to uThukela District Municipality, the uThukela Department of Health and the Mayor’s Office, but has received no joy.

She says that the water booster pump was removed in January for repairs and has since not been replaced.

When they go to uThukela to fetch water, which was supposed to be given free of charge, they are asked to pay for it. She says it is becoming very difficult and expensive living without water.

At the time of publishing, uThukela had not commented on the matter.
