Hilton College and ‘Wit Bulle’ lock horns

This meant that the local boys (also known as the ‘Wit Bulle’) had a tough job defending their turf against the ‘giants’ of Hilton

In celebration of Hilton College’s 150th anniversary, their first rugby team took to the field against Hoërskool Pionier on Friday morning. The Hilton team features in the top 10 schools with their remarkable rugby prowess. This meant that the local boys (also known as the ‘Wit Bulle’) had a tough job defending their turf against the ‘giants’ of Hilton. The momentum created by Hilton’s lightning-fast backline left Pionier a bit ‘dazed and confused’ in the first half, as their opponents overpowered the game. In the second half, however, the ‘Wit Bulle’ showcased why they are a team to be reckoned with. They picked up the pace and made it close to the try line a few times. At the end of the day, it was all about making new friends and gaining valuable match experience against tough opposition. Even though Pionier lost the game 0-55, it was a great learning curve for the boys in white, orange and blue. All the players agreed that it was a fun game to end off the first quarter of school. They had a lot of admiration for the Hilton team.
