Community mourns the passing of Jenny Ross

A memorial service will be held on this today at the Presbyterian Church in Dundee.

Tributes continue to pour in after Jenny Ross tragically died on Wednesday last week (March 23).
Jenny passed away at Mediclinic Hospital in Newcastle, following a tragic accident outside Dundee on March 2. The vehicle she was on, with her partner, collided with a bakkie in the late afternoon. Jenny was born on November 20, 1944, and married late husband Rodger Ross. They had three children, namely Kevin, Deron and Ian.
Jenny and her family moved to Dundee in the 1970s, where Rodger started a business called Natal Mining Agencies.
Jenny was well known at the Dundee Tennis Club, where many good memories were made while enjoying the game.
In the 1980s, the family joined Dundee Country Club, where Jenny was a well-respected member herself.
Jenny was a keen golfer until she lost half of one of her fingers in an accident.
She was the sole owner of Miners Rest Restaurant, where she was admired for her Sunday lunches and all-around fantastic cooking. Many tourists would visit the restaurant to enjoy Jenny’s smile, laughter, and jokes while devouring a tasty meal. Fellow Country Club members who sat at her table remember how she would complain on cold days if the fire was not lit and if the main door was left open. The members say they will miss her laugh and voice.
Her children, grandchildren, and partner Bob Bentley would like to thank the community for all the wonderful support and love in these trying times.
