A 30-year-old man is facing criminal charges after he was found with suspected stolen items in his possession.
On March 15, Bergville police received a tip-off that a male was seen in possession of item, which were suspected to be stolen.
Police went in search of the man and he was found in an alley near a store.
“Upon searching him, he was found in possession of a duvet, wallet containing several cards, cash and an identity document that belonged to another person. He was also found in possession of an amplifier that he was trying to sell in the area,” commented police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala.
A further search of the man revealed more.
“He was found in possession of a revolver with two rounds of ammunition that he concealed under his jacket. The suspect was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition as well as possession of stolen property,” added Gwala.
The man appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court on March 14.
