Mayor meets people with disabilities

They had the opportunity to tell the municipality what they expect from the upcoming budget

Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Zama Sibisi held a dialogue with people suffering from disabilities yesterday (March 17).

The event was held at the Dongala Conference Centre.

Disabled people came in their numbers to listen to what the mayor had to say.

They also had the opportunity to tell the municipality what they expect from the upcoming budget.

Guests included the speaker of uThukela District, Cllr TY Nqubuka, who outlined plans the municipality has for disabled citizens. One of those plans is to employ more people with disabilities within municipalities.

Cllr Nqubuka also encouraged disabled people to start co-operatives within the community they live in. She said this will help them to make a living, as opposed to just relying on a government grant.
